It is a real great feeling to be able to share additional affirmations of success in someone’s life or business. This month, In the spirit of continuing to celebrate success and sharing positive stories of success in what we do, I want to talk about Darek Potter and Harbor Engineering, Inc.

Darek Potter, P.E., Founder and President of Harbor Engineering, Inc. was referred to me during his first year in business. After we met, Darek made a very important decision that many business owners put off for years. Darek committed to developing a strategic plan and an Action Plan to direct and manage the growth of his civil engineering and landscape architecture business. Darek and his staff were involved in developing the strategic plan, which included a vision statement, a mission statement, a list of company core values and a list of short and long term goals. My role was as a facilitator, guide and business coach. Harbor Engineering, Inc. has experienced growth in number of employees and number of clients and continues to grow toward the established vision for the company. After 2004 ended, I asked Darek to share with me his thoughts on our strategic planning process and coaching and how the business performed. Here is what Darek said:

After exposing the method for initial investment and type of business, business coach training would teach you to set the short term goals for your business and how shall you plan the business in order to achieve those goals. This will also teach the future strategies for your business as well as the calculation with which you should set your short-term target one after the other in terms of investment. With these strategies, it would be beneficial for you to start your business as you would feel confidence in running the business.

You need to make up your mind if you truly want to be the business coach in your company. If you have the time, you can start this training and eventually, you will be able to coach the leaders and the managers in your organization. Chances are, however, you are already inundated with so many papers to sign, so many decisions to make and problems to troubleshoot. In this case, you just have to identify your priorities and consider whether outsourcing business coaching would be the best option for you.

Have you ever wondered why certain people can withstand the bumps and bruises of life better than others?

Why are they hardier?

Is there something in their body chemistry or personalities enabling them to weather the worst of life’s storms with a smile on their faces?

If you examine the literature pertaining to what makes certain people less susceptible to the damage that can be wrought by rejection or failure, you’ll find that they have these strengths:

(1) They believe the setback is temporary, not permanent. This enables them to move on to their next achievement.

(2) They perceive setbacks as impersonal. They don’t believe that it was their fault that they didn’t succeed. They don’t take losses personally, dwelling on the idea that their personality flaws or weak skills caused their misfortunes.

(3) They see a silver lining in the darkest clouds. Able to take a gain from their losses, a lesson, or an inspiration, they move on.

(4) They don’t generalize defeats into larger, more ominous patterns. If they weren’t invited to the book club discussion group and their kid earned only a “C” on an exam, they don’t tell themselves these episodes mean they’re headed down the drain.

(5) They remember wins, and relish them, more than losses. For instance, if they speak before a group and ninety-five percent write positive evaluations, they remember them instead of dwelling on the 5% they didn’t reach.

Having noted these strengths, the key question is this: Can we develop them if they’re not a part of our makeup?

We can, by using affirmations geared to bolstering each one as a belief. We can tell ourselves:

(1) All setbacks are temporary, and they’re stepping stones to my inevitable achievement.

(2) Sometimes things just don’t work out, but it’s not my fault, because I can’t control other people, only my continuing efforts.

(3) Every setback has something to teach me or a way to inspire me. Now, what can this one offer me?

(4) This setback only pertains to itself, and in innumerable ways, I’m still successful, and I’ll be even more successful in the future.

(5) I’m going to praise the good, remembering my wins, and downplay my losses. I’ll turn stinging defeats into mild disappointments, without delay.

Work on these, and you’ll become even more resilient!

Internet Marketing Tips – Clickbank Or PayDotCom?

A lot of marketers who are creating products for the first time are having a hard time deciding between hosting their product with Clickbank or with PayDotCom. Well, there is good and bad to both of these companies and unfortunately, there is no perfect solution. This article is going to point out the major differences between going with Clickbank or PayDotCom. Hopefully, after reading this, you’ll have a better idea of which direction you want to go in.

Clickbank is without a doubt the bigger of the two companies. There is no question here. They are the king of the affiliate marketplace. Because of this, by posting your product there, you will get the benefit of an army of affiliates to help you promote it. This is a very key benefit to going with Clickbank. Another great benefit is that you don’t have to pay your affiliates. Clickbank does that for you. So that’s a load off of your mind.

The downsides of Clickbank are few, but they do exist. The first one, and one many complain about, is their no questions asked refund policy. A person doesn’t even have to give a valid reason for requesting a refund. It is simply granted. Because people know this, there are some out there who take advantage of this policy. Another problem with Clickbank is that they allow affiliates to purchase from their own links, thus taking commissions away from the person who rightfully should have earned it.

PayDotCom, on the other hand, does not allow affiliates to purchase using their own links, which is a big incentive for affiliates to want to go with PayDotCom for promoting products. They know their commissions are safe. However, there is more work to do from the standpoint of the vendor because PayDotCom does not pay commissions like Clickbank does. Each vendor is responsible for paying affiliates himself. So this is more work for the vendor.

Probably the biggest problem for the vendor with PayDotCom is that they simply don’t have the affiliate base that Clickbank has, so you’re not going to get as many affiliates promoting your product as you would with Clickbank. This means fewer sales for you by going with PayDotCom.

As you can see, there is no perfect solution to this question. Each company has its good and bad points. Personally, I go with Clickbank because I don’t have the time to pay each affiliate myself. I like that Clickbank handles that. Plus, I like that Clickbank does give me more traffic because of its larger affiliate base.

Ultimately, the decision is yours. I hope, however, this article has alerted you to the pros and cons of each company so that you can make an informed decision.
